Determined, Hardworking, Energetic, Reliable, Persistent
Question 2: If you still remember, can you share the reason why you chose this company before?
After a month of passing the board examination, I was actually looking for a Japanese Company that can be a big help to hone my knowledge in structural design and analysis. I came across YTP and was amazed by the wide range of projects it handles. I was hesitant at first to took the job since I don't have much experience in horizontal and low rise structures but I believe I have chosen the right company at that time.
Question 3: What are the things you like about working here?
I am amazed by the culture and bond that was built within the group and the whole company as well. In SAG, the continuous hunger of learning new techniques and developments was something that I am truly amazed of. Employees go beyond what they are expected to do so.
Question 4: What does it mean for you to be a recipient of the Best Engineer award?
This award is a reminder that my efforts and hard work are seen by the company. The extra efforts that I exerted was noticed and it gave me another push to continue and be better. I may came across to different hardships in the future but I will keep in mind that someday it will pay off.
Question 5: Did you expect to receive this award?
Given the tenure I had with the company, I honestly thought that I wouldn't be able to receive nor be a candidate for recipient. I am truly grateful to the award and it serves as a reminder to always keep doing my best and improve my skills further.
Question 6: Looking back at your first day working at YTP, did this award cross your mind?
I always remember the times that my seniors would receive this award and during that time I also hope that someday I will be recognized for it. It was like a goal for me when I entered the company
Question 7: How do you find your job?
My nature of work is something that I have never imagined I will be doing professionally. I am the main modeler, making models and analysis of structure as accurate as possible. On top of that, I also train junior employees to impart the knowledge I have. And last but not the least, while keeping a good quality of work, the continuous improvement of Japanese language is also needed. It was tough but I believe I will always get through it.
Question 8: What's next for you? What are your plans?
Now that I am currently in Japan, I will do my best for every part of this training. I will make sure that will learn a lot not only in the work but also in the culture I will be exposed in. I will also make sure to bring the knowledge and share it with my group once I go back to the Philippines.
Question 9: Share some thoughts with aspiring engineers who want to follow in your footsteps.
Always keep a mindset of learning new things all the time. Once you have that mindset, you will continue to improve yourself and thrive for excellence not only for your own good but for the company as well. Take responsibility and accountability of all the things you do as well.
Question 10: Since you are working in a Japanese company, do you have any favorite Japanese words/phrases?

Question 11: If you could travel back in time, specifically on your first day of work here, what would you say to your younger self?
Do not be afraid. This will be your first work. I wouldn't spoil you for anything that will come in your life. Just believe that everything is already written and the only thing matters now is to do your best. It is okay to feel tired and hopeless but do not give up.
